Kim Meyer
CGI Math TLC Mentor Teacher, Fourth Grade
Mrs. Meyer is a fourth grade teacher in the Rogers Public School District at Tucker Elementary in Lowell, Arkansas. She taught third grade for six years and has now been teaching fourth grade for five years. She is currently teaching math, science, and small group reading at her school. Mrs. Meyer began her CGI journey as a third grade teacher in 2010. This was when her math instruction began to change drastically due to the training she received. She started sharing her journey in CGI with her coworkers. She has mentored teachers at her school, as well as presented professional development for teachers in her school district. Mrs. Meyer was one of three finalists in Arkansas for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2016 and was awarded the Arkansas Elementary Teacher of the Year award from the Mathematical Association of America in 2018.
The students in Mrs. Meyer’s school come from diverse backgrounds with 60% receiving free and reduced lunch. Tucker Elementary has 614 students with 41 % Caucasian and 50% Hispanic or Latino.
